[May 5th, 2018] Wifi credentials for TDSB are currently working, check them out here.

If you're working a school shift at the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) students in grade 4 and above will have access to Wi-Fi. If Students below grade 4 don't have access to Wi-Fi or for any reason internet is a reoccurring issue for the shift, contact your program coordinator and they will coordinate with you to provide hotspot equipment for you to use for the shift (Hotspot Policy).

If you're students have WiFi, but you don't, another option is to write down all the challenges and projects that need to be approved along with which students were present then when you arrive to a spot with WiFi, update the attendance along with the projects and challenges. Don't forget to follow this important procedure laid out in this article when in class as a method to coach your students to greatness: Can I mark projects from home?.

If there is a sudden loss of internet it is the perfect opportunity to perform offline activities! Not only are these offline activities engaging and fun, but it a great change of pace in learning that can positively impact your students' progression greatly.

You may also have some trouble clocking-in. You can always manually clock the shift in When I Work after the shift is complete; be sure to include information of the situation in the shift notes of the shift you are adding - it will be audited.

As a last resort, if you don't have access to an internet connection to take attendance and mark projects, or because offline activities are impossible or not appropriate in the context, follow the procedure below:

  • Download “My Data Manager” for android or ios (This will need to be done beforehand).

  • Use the “Timer” feature to start a Data stopwatch and take a screenshot when your shift is done.

  • E-mail the screenshot to payroll@hatchcanada.com

  • You will be paid $5 per 100MB
