Health and Safety:
Laptops need to be occasionally transported to and from the schools so a correct transport and lifting procedure is necessary.
Laptops are typically held in a transport luggage bag with 6 laptops be per bag and at least 3 chargers weighing in at about 25 pounds or 10 kilograms. Please use the handle provided to wheel around the laptop bag and follow this procedure when lifting.
Safe Lifting Laptop Cases:
- Keep a wide base of support. Squat down, bending at the hips and knees only.
- Keep good posture. Look straight ahead, and keep your back straight, your chest out, and your shoulders back.
- Slowly lift by straightening your hips and knees (not your back). Keep your back straight, and don't twist as you lift.
- Hold the load as close to your body as possible, at the level of your belly button.
- Lead with your hips as you change direction. Keep your shoulders in line with your hips as you move (take smaller steps).
- Set down your load carefully, squatting with the knees and hips only, keep back straight and core tight at all times.
